School visits

VLRC presenter talking to students

The VLRC visits schools, colleges, universities and community groups to explain our work. Year 12 VCE Legal Studies students study the law reform process in Unit 3, 'Law-Making'. A presentation takes around one hour and includes: the role of the VLRC; one or two case studies of law reform projects; time for questions. This is a free service.

If you would like a VLRC presenter to visit your group, please complete the Request a Speaker online form. In the first half of the year, the best time to contact us is January or early February, when you know your timetable. Alternatively you can request a speaker later in the year, as pre-exam revision.

During Law Week, in May every year, we partner with the Victoria Law Foundation on a full-day seminar, Law Week Law Talks. This event includes a range of high-profile speakers covering topics from the legal studies curriculum for Year 12 students. We also participate in Law Talks events in regional areas, organised by the Victoria Law Foundation.

We produce a range of resources for students. Hard copies can be requested free (call (03) 8608 7800 or email the VLRC) or you can download them as pdfs from the menu on the left.
